Our capital city  area is becoming more inviting to pedestrians and bicyclists.

Tri County Regional Planning Commission has identified 41 locations to monitor at specific dates and times by taking counts (of people walking and on bikes) The collection of this data will enable in assisting municipalities and PennDOT in future efforts for improvement.  Your help is needed.

The dates and times of the counts (for all locations) will be as follows:

  • Sunday, September 27 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
  • Tuesday, September 29, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
  • Wednesday, September 30, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
  • Thursday, October 1, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
  • Saturday, October 3, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Please arrive at your location approximately 15 minutes prior to beginning.

We will be using the National Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project methodology. For more information on the NBPDP, click here. We will be using the screen line form, which simply counts the number of bicyclists and pedestrians during the timeframe.   Because of time constraints, we won’t be able to hold any formal training sessions.  More specific information will be forth coming once you sign up.
