Howdy SAMBA,
As some of you know, we have been advocating for the past several years with our parent organization the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and our partners at Quality Bicycle Products (QBP) to bring a new single track trail network to the Harrisburg area. This project has been an ongoing effort between SAMBA and the City of Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Capital Area Greenbelt Association, Swatara Township, Susquehanna Township, Paxtang Borough, Penn Dot, Paxtang Cemetery, and others.
The proposed trail system will be made up of two main areas (Cameron Parkway and Paxtang Parkway) and a beginner area (Dock’s Woods) which will help to maximize unused green spaces in South Harrisburg. These areas are connected and accessible traffic-free via the Capital Area Greenbelt nature trail from anywhere in the City. The proposed network would offer more than 8 miles of marked natural surface single track trails.
So… the time has finally come to update you all and we are pleased to announce that SAMBA has received fully executed volunteer stewardship agreements with landowners the City of Harrisburg and Dauphin County to officially begin work developing the Parkway Trail network!
What’s next?
We need your help.
Please check back for updates and trail work days being scheduled throughout August and September and remember that this entire project is the result of 100% volunteer commitment and dedication. With your help we can make the goal of opening the trails this Fall a reality.
Thanks for being a part of SAMBA and we hope to see you on the trail.
-Nick
